Our Story
In late 2022, Tracey Scheffler found herself navigating the difficult journey of caring for her aging parents. Her father was battling multiple health issues, while her mother faced the dual challenges of dementia and multiple sclerosis. During this incredibly challenging time, Tracey realized just how scarce resources and information were for families like hers. It became clear that many others were facing similar struggles, often feeling lost and unsupported.
The passing of Tracey’s father, the last of the three grandfathers in her family’s lives, marked a profound turning point. It was this moment that ignited her passion to help others facing the same hardships. With the realization that her father was the final patriarch to pass from her family, spanning the Zastrow, Walsh, and Scheffler lineages, Tracey was inspired to create a lasting tribute. This tribute became the ZWS Foundation, honoring the families that shaped her life and aiming to provide the support that was missing during her own journey.
Our Vision
The ZWS Foundation is built on the values and legacies of the Zastrow, Walsh, and Scheffler families, embodying their heart and soul. We believe that everyone deserves to age with dignity, respect, and the necessary support to live life to the fullest. Aging is a universal experience, yet it is often met with challenges that many are unprepared for. At ZWS, we focus on raising awareness about the realities of aging while specifically addressing the needs of the elderly population. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to the education, resources, and support needed to navigate this stage of life with confidence and care.
Our Mission
At ZWS Foundation, our mission is to empower families and communities by providing essential resources for dementia caregiving, advancing memory care education, and supporting first responders who are vital in senior care. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those affected by dementia, ensuring caregivers have the tools they need, and sustaining the critical role of first responders in our communities.
